Tempo run is supposed to be run at a pace which is atleast one minute faster than your marathon pace. I decided to run the tempo at 9 min/mile pace. I kept the pace of 9 min/mile for about 3 miles, then walked for 3 minutes, then finally ran the next 2 miles at 9:40 min/mile. I should try to reduce the 3min break in future. In the tempo runs, you are supposed to keep the pace without breaking. I will try to reduce the break time in future.
